About Department of Mining and Geology
Department of Mining and Geology was formerly known as Department of Geology. Before its formation as a separate entity in the year 1946, it was a part of Industries Department. In 1970, Department of Geology was reorganized and was renamed as Department of Mining and Geology.
This Department is the statutory body under Industries Department of Government of Kerala for mineral exploration, prospecting, and administration. In addition, the Department carries out short-term investigations/studies as per the directives of State Government.

June 21, 2022e-Office has been implemented in District office Ernakulam w.e.f 06.6.2022. e-Office will be implemented in the district and Kerala Mineral Squad (KMS) offices soon. -
Inauguration
February 24, 2022The Official website and the Public Dashboard of the Department of Mining and Geology were inaugurated today at 2.00 pm by Shri. P. Rajeeve, Minister for Law, Industries and Coir. The event was held at the Residency Tower in Thiruvananthapuram. The website looks into the organization structure, functions, achievements and all the information that one would like to know about the Department. The dashboard provides statistics of mineral concessions in the State, active count of Quarries, Crushers, Mineral Depots etc. Data is fetched from the award winning KOMPAS portal of the Department.
